The legendary YTS-23 and TS-100 saxophones are the same unit, manufactured by Yamaha Japan in the 1980s. The difference is that the TS-100 was marketed specifically for the Japanese, Australian, and New Zealand markets, while the YTS-23 was for a wider market.

This unit features Yamaha branding with the word "Japan" embossed underneath, and there is no "Made in Japan" written on the back of the body below the serial number. After Yamaha established several saxophone factories such as in China and Indonesia, they removed the writing "Japan" on the front body, and added "made in ..." on the back of the saxophone body to identify the locality of manufacture of each unit. This unit is considered to be in very good condition considering its age, but its physical condition is still good and neat.
